A ?token= query parameter is accepted on the self-hosted surface but should be avoided — query strings land in server logs, browser history, and referrer headers. Use the header.

Exit codes in scripts

curl -s hides HTTP errors. For anything automated:

curl -sS --fail-with-body "$API/api/signals/BAD_ID" | jq

--fail-with-body returns a non-zero exit code and prints the JSON error, which the plain --fail flag discards.
